چکیده
It is open and available to everyone, encouraging rapid innovation. It is application-independent, requiring no proprietary application-layer gateways. Services are placed at the edges of the network rather than integrated into the network itself; this allows services to evolve without impacting the network and keeps complexity out of the network core. The ability of packets to carry globally meaningful addresses enables network nodes to make autonomous decisions in processing each packet. This allows the distribution of work throughout the nodes, providing redundancy as well as improving scalability.

Is IP-ism Reformable?
The title requires some explanation. The term “IP-ism” was introduced by the author in [1] to name the current trend which tends to treat IP-related technology as an ideology – an “-ism” – rather than just one of many possible solutions within the ICT area. In short, according to IP-ism, the IP technology (its derivatives, modifications etc.) is regarded as a panacea for the development of a fu...
متن کاملThe Internet of Everything through IPv6: An Analysis of Challenges, Solutions and Opportunities
The public IPv4 address space managed by IANA (http://www.iana.org) has been completely depleted by Feb 1st, 2011. This creates by itself an interesting challenge when adding new things and enabling new services on the Internet. Without public IP addresses, the Internet of Things capabilities would be greatly reduced. Most discussions about IoT have been based on the illusionary assumption that...

متن کاملThe Ip Micro Mobility Approach
Mobile IP is a powerful protocol which supports Internet mobility and scales reasonably with the number of users within a system. Due to the high roundtrip delay of the Internet and due to Mobile IP’s control overhead, Mobile IP causes connections of a mobile node to be interrupted for up to 5 seconds for each change of its attachment point to the Internet. This interruption induces TCP to run ...

A t this point in technology’s evolution, the simplicity, elegance, extensibility, and broad compatibility of the Internet protocol suite has made it the automatic choice for most forms of communication. From Web browsing to enterprise computing, from electronic mail to next-generation wireless telephony, the common denominator is “everything over IP.” All is not necessarily well in IP land, ho...
